The End is Near

Well, friends, the end is near! My marketing presentation on the SPCA was yesterday, and now I just have two more papers to go before exams. The presentation went as well as it could, considering that we only had 15 minutes to do it in (we were supposed to have 20). The two groups before us went waaaay overtime, so we had to cut some of our stuff out. The prof said he wouldn't mark us any differently, though, so that's good. I'm just glad it's over!! After the class, he (the prof) took everyone (the whole class) to the Grad House and bought us all drinks. It was cool. He's a great prof. I think any prof that's going to take his class out for drinks has to be pretty cool... but this guy's also the Christmas tree man. He's got the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" on the 102 highway between the Bedford and Sackville exits. The tree is a beacon of hope for me whenever I have to drive home after dark because it means that I'm almost there.

Anyhow, enough about school... I'm so excited for Winter Conference! I have $315 raised so far, so I'm almost there! I'm so excited. haha Everytime I get a cheque, I think the excitement builds... it puts me one step closer to actually going. My cowboy hat still hasn't come, though. :( I fear it may never come... I bought it on Ebay... And it was shipped to the correct address, except she had "Nova Sackville" instead of "Nova Scotia" for the province. I didn't think it would make that much difference since the rest was right, and they should have gotten it from the postal code anyways... Maybe the mail is just being slow... That's what I hope!! I really liked that hat... at least, I did from the pictures...

A Weekend in Yarmouth

This weekend was so great. Ahh... it was sooo nice to have a break and to be away from home where it was impossible to work on school stuff or stare at a computer all day. It was lovely.

The camp fundraiser, "A Peniel Christmas", went very well with about 160 people in attendance! I made a beautiful pyramid of punch glasses. It was great. And then Marie knocked it over. Twice. heehee Not the whole thing, though! Just the top few rows. It was fine - very easy to fix! And I liked making it, so doing it over was definitely okay. I served punch for most of the night, and then I was moved to the buffet table to serve stuffing (it's stuffing, okay!? none of this "dressing" business!!). After many, many dishes, we left there and went to Boston Pizza for a late night snack. I spent that night at Joe's and got sneezed on by Sam (one of his dogs), who slept with me, multiple times through the night. It was lovely. ;)

On Sunday, after church, a few of us went out for lunch, including my Bainer!! So that was good. We also went shopping (yes, on a Sunday, but there was no other day for me to help Joe pick out a birthday present for one of his friends and some clothes for him), went to his hockey game, went to Zablocki's, and went to see CASINO ROYALE, which I must say, is an excellent Bond movie. I didn't think I would like the new Bond, but I did. He was very good at it. In fact, I think Casino Royale is rivalling The World is Not Enough for the position of "Amarea's Favourite Bond Movie". I'll have to see it again before I can decide for sure. It wasn't a typical Bond movie, which was nice. I won't provide all of my comments on it because I would ruin the movie for those who want to see it, but he wasn't a typical "one night stand" Bond, and I appreciated that.

I also watched You've Got Mail again this weekend with Brian. It's my very favourite chick flick, and I don't think I'll ever tire of it. I got to visit my Nana on the way home today, too. That was nice. She made me scrambled eggs and let me lay on the couch and writhe in pain from horrible, horrible cramps until my Tylenol kicked in. *sigh* I'm feeling much better now, though. :) And I will be even better tomorrow when my marketing presentation is done! But, yes, it was a good weekend, a good break. I need to do that more often.

Top 5 Memorable Moments of the Weekend:
1. "My thingie's sticking up your butt." -Brian, with a red face soon to follow
2. The butter trick... Butter on Winston, butter on Zablocki, butter on Brian, salt in the biscuit
3. Being carried up the stairs in the dark and then falling down the stairs in the dark
4. Freezing in the hockey arena because we were all too cheap to pay $1 for heat
5. "I'm not a sucker!"

Dentists, Shopping, and Movies! Oh my!

Well, today was my first appointment with my new dentist. He wasn't as scary as I was expecting. His office is very nice and clean looking, and there is a water feature in every exam room. Water features add something to a room, I think. And these ones weren't loud enough to make you have to pee, which is always a plus... especially when you're stuck in a chair, wearing a bib, with someone's hands inside your mouth. The dental hygienist, however, was very rough. She caused me a great deal of pain whilst cleansing my toofers. I don't think teeth are supposed to make noises like mine made while she scrapped a scary looking gold tool against them. My teeth are sore tonight. The good news is that I once again have no cavities! I have never had one, and I intend to keep it that way. Mum has one though! haha!

Anyways, enough about the dentist... I think I have recovered from that ordeal for another year. Morgan and I FINALLY remembered to have our Smart Food night. lol We also made a few brief pit stops along the way to pick her up a lovely new winter coat from Reitmans (and a SUPER CUTE hat and mitts to match! The hat looks AMAZING... I'm serious... She's hot!), a box of truffles, and some thank-you cards for me. I mean... for me to hand out... not to give to myself... Right... So, we watched The Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. It was really good, if mind boggling. After pondering it for the past few hours while doing other things, I have decided that I can look past the impossibilities of the movie and like it. I recommend the movie. It's good. I like it.

Oh my... it's 1:41am, and I have an 8:30 class in the morning and a presentation at 10! I should really go to bed...

Do People Really Think I'm a Flake??

You Are a Mermaid

You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you're flakier than you actually are.
While your head is often in the clouds, you'll always come back to earth to help someone in need.
Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational.
You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

AH!!! EMERGENCY! CALL 911!!

HOLY POOP EXAM PERIOD STARTS IN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!! That's crazy!!!!

My Mum Is So Cool

I went out with my Mama tonight, and it was great! We laughed so much! We began our evening together with a trip to The Body Shop to get Mum some new makeup. She had none. lol We got her an eye and cheek palette, some mascara, and a set of brushes. She also purchased me a few Christmas presents (yes, I know what I'm getting.. but then again, I always do!). After a quick wander through the mall, we headed back to Sackville to go see The Santa Clause 3. It was SO funny!!! They make fun of Canadians, and it's great. Ahh... I love those movies... I laughed like the whole way through! After the movie, we definitely did the Kodak Sticker maker, and we now have small stickers of us alllll over the house. :) We're so cool. And then we ran across the parking lot to get a large order of french fries at Wendy's to eat. It was great. I love my Mum. We have fun. :)

Humped!

This is Randy. Isn't he cute? Randy currently resides at the SPCA, which is where I met him. My not-for-profit marketing class is doing a campaign for the SPCA for our term project, so we went to visit there yesterday. While we were there, we took dear old Randy for a walk. Let me tell you what something... RANDY IS NOT SO INNOCENT!! I crouched down next to him for a picture, and Randy looked at me, wrapped his arms around me, knocked me to the ground, and proceeded to HUMP ME! Did my friends come to my rescue and remove my harasser?? Nooooo! Instead, they stood there and laughed!! At last, Chris took pity on me and started to pull the dog off, but not before I heard a loud CLICK! as a photo was snapped. So, here it is: Amarea getting humped by a dog. A moment that will be forever remembered on film. *sigh*
On a happier note... well, sort of... I got my belly button pierced! It hurts... and it hurt a lot when it happened, but I like it! I'm excited for when it heals because I want to put a pretty one in instead of the ring that's in there now.

Leopard Print

So... my church definitely has these lights that shine leopard print onto the walls. It's pretty nifty. I spent most... okay, well not most, but some of the service trying to figure out why the pattern looked so familiar. I guess I wasn't expecting leopard print walls at the church tonight! lol Anyway, that's what it is. Leopard print. At the church. Yup. Pretty nifty.

Goood Movie!

I went to see The Prestige tonight with Megha, Jessie, and Trent. It was GOOD. If you are even slightly considering seeing this movie, you really, really should. It is really good. It's like the best mystery novel you've ever read acted out on the big screen. Or thriller... Probably thriller... But still... it's good!! I liked it a lot.

I went for a run when I got home... Running at like 10:15pm when you're tired is really hard. I fought myself (almost) every step of the way... and I forgot to take my puffer first. I'm still glad I went though! I think I am committed to working out. Don't worry, I don't think I need to lose a pile of weight or anything, but I would like to have a nice toned stomach and maintain my weight. I think those are good goals.

I want it to be FRIDAY!!!!

Quote of the Day:
"WHERE IS COMBO 3!? I WANT COMBO 3!!!!!!! DON'T GIVE ME THAT POPCORN! I NEED A COMBO 3!!!!" -Jessie, as she throws popcorn at the concession guy, on the floor, and stomps in it ;)

"What's a blog?" -Wanda
"Well, it's short for weblog. Web because it's online, and log for..."-Hank
"Log because it was originally written on wood."-Brent

Zeddy: My Soulmate

This is Zeddy. According to Blogthings, he is my soulmate, and one really cannot cast a doubt upon blogthings. Blogthings once told me that if I were an olympic sport, I would be bobsledding. Now, that's pretty accurate, so this must be too. Zeddy is taller than me, and he dressed up as a nerd for Halloween. He looked pretty nerdy, too! If you go to "Zeddy's Blog" on the right sidebar, you can see a picture of him looking pretty nerdy. I like Zeddy. He is handsome. He makes me laugh all the time. I'm glad he's my soulmate.

I'm not convinced of the accuracy of this one...

What You Really Think Of Your Friends
Zeddy is your soulmate.
You truly love Megha.
You consider Marie your true friend.
You know that Morgan is always thinking of you.
You'll remember Sarah Chan for the rest of your life.
You secretly think Erin is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times.
You secretly think that Rebekah is colorful, impulsive, and a total risk taker.
You secretly think that Thomas is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Thomas changes lovers faster than underwear.
You secretly think Jessie is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Jessie has a hidden internet romance.

Forgetful!

So, I was out shopping after dance class night for a certain someone's birthday present, when all of a sudden it hit me: "YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE PROGRESSIVE DINNER AN HOUR AGO!" *sigh* I forgot. And by the time I remembered it, I was already back in Sackville. Silly me... I really wanted Scottish shortbread too!! I wonder if it was Walker's shortbread... because if it was, then I'd be really upset!

Anyways, I printed off my application for Scotland, and it's big and scary! I wonder if I hadn't done my devo's regularly in a long time, but haven't missed a day since Thursday if that counts as doing them every day? Hmmm... Well, maybe I'll fill that question in right before I send the application in and then work it out that way. I hope I get accepted! I really feel like I'm supposed to be there!

I ran three days this week, which was what I was planning on. Now, if I can just finish that paper, I'll be all set! Hmm... this has been a rather shallow posting... not that many of my posts are incredibly deep, but I haven't written in awhile, and I felt like I should, so there.

Well, something *slightly* more interesting that I can write about... I think it's funny when customers ask if something is a fashion faux-pas when you're wearing it. For example, yesterday at work, a customer said "Can you wear brown with denim?? I don't know.. I think it might look funny!" Then, she realized that I was wearing a brown sweater with jeans, at which point she said, "Oh, well... I guess you're wearing it, and you look normal..." Normal? Thanks... I was going for AmAZING. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. ;) Anyways, she bought the brown to wear with her jeans, so I suppose I was "normal" enough. Another time, a customer asked if she could wear a striped blouse with pin striped pants. I happened to be wearing just that. I said yes, she could, as long as the stripes weren't really big. Then, she looked at me, and a look of horror swept across her face as she realized that's what I was wearing. She didn't comment on it though, just went back into the fitting room. She bought the outfit too. heehee I wonder if they do that cos they feel guilty or cos it actually looks good? Well, either way, they end up looking nice, so that's the important part!

Thoughts...

I have a lot on my mind, and I am afraid. If you are the praying sort, pray that I will have wisdom, discernment, and courage.
