It's Finally Here!!

It's finally time for me to head to the airport to fly to Toronto for Winter Conference! I've been waiting for today since I signed up to go at the Edge Retreat in September, and it's FINALLY here!! I'm so excited! In just a few short hours, I will be boarding my flight to Toronto. I have to admit, I'm nervous about that... I hate flying at the best of times, so flying by myself is going to be a little bit (or a lot!) scary, but I know that plane crashes are very rare and I'm more likely to be killed by a randomly falling vending machine... I'm not scared of dying anyways... I'm scared of it hurting! Anyways, enough about that! This week is going to be really fun! Skating on Nathan Phillip's Square, New Year's Eve part-ay, lots of time with friends, and learning more about my Saviour. And then, when I get home, someone I like very much will be waiting for me at the airport. :)

I'll miss you all while I'm gone!! See ya in January! HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!

Birthday! Party!

Twenty-one years ago, at 12:10pm on a day just like today, a little girl was born. She weighed 8lbs, 5.75oz. Her mother claims that she wasn't a fat baby, though. No, she was "long and stringy". (Thanks, Mum... that's the compliment every girl wants to hear... stringy... ;) haha.)

Yup, it's my birthday today! I got some nifty presents. Nana and Auntie both gave me money to spend in Toronto (TOMORROW!! WOOT!), and Mum got me dolphin earrings and...........

A DUST BUSTER! Yup, I actually DID want a Dust Buster for my birthday... I asked for one months ago. And now I have one. Yay! It's a powerful little sucker too... I dust busted my dresser scarf, and it nearly sucked it right out from under all the stuff on it and took it away forever! AND it has 3, yes 3!, attachments! This is indeed quite exciting.

Yay! Happy birthday to me!

Anglina Jolie? I'll Take That...

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas time at the Hamilton house! It's Christmas time at the Hamilton house! (Okay, so "Hamilton House" doesn't work as well as "Howitt House" or "Camp Peniel" but whatever... It IS Christmas time at the Hamilton House!)

It was a wonderful Christmas. The scrapbook pages that I made for my family and framed went over really well, so I was happy about that. I got some pretty cool stuff, too! I got a new stereo from Nana with a 5-disc changer, so that was pretty sweet! I also got some new clothes, a brown pea coat, some books that I really wanted, and some new make-up. It was pretty awesome!

I also took some time before turkey to play with............. MY LITE BRITE!!! Here's what I made!

Yup, it's a fireworks show! Cool, huh! I think so. :) Yay for Christmas! And tomorrow it's my birthday! Woohoo! Party! And by party, I mean turkey sandwiches and packing for WC. lol

Anyways, what I really want to write about is how struck I am with the real meaning of Christmas this year. I think seeing "The Nativity Story" really opened my eyes to what really happened on Christmas so many years ago. It really showed the relationship between Mary and Joseph and the conditions that Jesus was born in. It was amazing. I wish I could better describe it, but I can't. All I know is that when I read the story in Luke 2 to my family this morning, something I've done for as long as I can remember, it meant a lot more to me than it did before. So, I would like to say thank you to my friends and family for the beautiful gifts that were given this year, but even more so, I would like to say thank you to Jesus for being willing to come to Earth in the most humblest of conditions just so that I would have hope for a future. Thank you, Lord.

I Love Friends!

Tonight, my friends and I had our Christmas potluck and exchanged our homemade presents! I love us. I really do. We had a feast of biscuits a la Rebekah, Cesar salade a la moi, pukin' chickens a la Morgan, pop a la Jessie, and Sex in a Pan (yes, that's it was... haha!) a la Megha. After said feast, which was accompanied by Hanson's "Snowed In", we did the present exchange, all of which were homemade. Morgan gave Jessie a book entitled "A How To Guide for the Modern Girlfriend", Jessie gave Rebekah a sock dog (appropriately named "Matt"), Rebekah gave me a popsicle stick box with my name very prettily written on the cover and its meaning on the inside, I gave Megha a hemp necklace/anklet/bracelet set, and Megha gave Morgan a drawing entitled "Lilies on a Pond" and a Goo Goo Dolls mixed cd.

I love my friends. :) We are great.

Something I've Noticed...

These past few weeks have made me realize something. My mood is very affected by the people I'm around. For example, when I work with really upbeat, fun, crazy people (like Nat at Reitmans or Sasquatch at Pete's), I'm really upbeat, fun, and crazy. But if the people I'm with are more quiet and low key, then I am too. It's interesting.

Speaking of Reitmans, tonight was my last shift. All the girls surprised me with a present, and we ordered pizza and pop. I got a bookmark, a candle, and a bath set... All wrapped in "company supplies" (aka. paper towel). lol It was so cute! I almost cried. Okay, I did cry. I will miss those people. I like them a lot. *sigh* I think working at the bookstore will be a lot better, though... I really do...

Many Things to Say!

Well, it has been awhile since I've updated my blog, hasn't it? I've been crazy busy... working 14 hours a day most days... So I suppose the first thing I should mention is my birthday night out! It was fun. We went to eat at the Fireside and then out dancing at the Pacifico. The Pacifico was CRAZY crowded... There was like 6 or 7 of us there celebrating birthdays plus all the people out celebrating the end of exams. You could barely move on the dance floor. lol But those in my group all looked very nice, if I do say so! Here we are:

Some notable things I received for my birthday: A LITE BRITE!!!!, a poster of a little girl kissing a frog, a basket of pink goodies, every kind of hot chocolate imaginable, and a stuffed pteridactyl.

Let's see... I have seen The Nativity Story twice. Once with Jessie and once on a date with Pete. I cried the first time I saw it... It was so powerful... I'm glad that baby Jesus cried in it too. That's always been my biggest beef with the Away in a Manger song... where it says, "But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes..." I think He did cry. All babies cry. It's how they communicate. He cried. He must have...

I quit Reitmans on Monday! My last shift ever is on Saturday, and I am excited! I'll be working at the Dal Bookstore in January and teaching two dance classes a week. I think it will be better.

AND IT'S ONLY 6 MORE DAYS TILL WINTER CONFERENCE!! WOOHOO!!!

Done and Done!

Well, I am finally, FINALLY done with exams. Megha, I think you know this feeling. Having an exam on the last day of exam period is really bad... It's even worse when ALL your exams are on the last few days of exam period because then you have this break in between school and exams where you start to unwind and then have to attempt to get back into the swing of things to study. But it's ooooooover!!! And I am dooooooone!!! We won't talk about how the exams went. They were bad, to say the least. I think I need to file assault charges against my finance exam. *sigh* ANYWAYS! I'M DONE! So, that means that it's almost Christmas and almost my birthday (in fact, it's my part-ay tonight!) and almost WINTER CONFERENCE! HOORAY! Megha's loaning me a pretty Indian suit for the New Year's Eve party, so that will be great. I love wearing Indian clothes. They make me feel pretty!

Another Tale From Reitmans

Well, I went in tonight for my shift at 5:30, and everything was progressing as a Reitmans shift usually does, when suddenly we began to smell smoke. It smelled good at first... like a campfire... but then it got stronger.. and stronger. We looked all over the store and out back and stuff, but there was no fire. Eventually, someone from Nubody's came over and told us that someone had thrown a lit cigarette into the theatre's garbage dumpsters, which had caused them to catch on fire. The firefighters came and put it out and checked over the store. However, in the midst of this, my asthma started acting up. I was all lightheaded and wheezing and coughing and couldn't breathe. Mum came to bring me my puffer, and Donna sent me home with her. So, I only ended up working for 2 hours, but I got paid for my full 4 hour shift! Hurrah! That seems to be the only upside, though... I'm still very shaky and my heart's beating like nuts. Hopefully, I will feel better in the morning. I'm going to go try to sleep it off...

Pregnant!?

Well, folks, according to three (yes, THREE!) Reitmans customers, I am pregnant. The first one was in the middle of her sentence when she said, "Oh my goodness! Are you pregnant?? That top is so cute!" I was totally shocked and was like, "What?? No!" Apparently, my top looked like a maternity top... probably because it was empire waist and long. Anyways, the next customer said, "How far along are you?" A bit better prepared, I said, "Oh... not very far!" As in not at all... And the last one said, "Wow... you're so young..." while looking at me sympathetically. COME ON PEOPLE! Have you no shame!? *sigh* Well, this "pregnant" lady is heading to bed. My feet hurt... it's probably swollen ankles...

Decorated!

I decorated my house tonight! And by house, I mean the family room... haha I put the tree up and the mantle scene and the teddy bears and the table decorations! It looks pretty. And just in case you're ever wondering, white LED lights actually look a bit bluish... so if you want white, go for the gold ones.

Anyways, I have officially been bit with the Christmas bug! I have Christmas music playing all the time and Christmas lights around my window and now a Christmas tree! Yay!

Magical

I've had a simply wonderful day. After falling asleep reading at 4pm yesterday afternoon and only waking up for a brief time at midnight to pee and remove my contacts, I got up at 9:30 this morning feeling refreshed for the first time in a long time. I spent my morning out with my Auntie helping her spend a $500 Columbia gift certificate that came with her new car. I got a new winter coat out of it, and I love it! It is brown and baby blue and VERY warm. I like it a lot. We then had a lovely breakfast-at-lunch at Smitty's and headed home just before the roads got too bad.

There's something nice about being warm inside while it's snowing outside. I spent the afternoon curled up in front of the fireplace with a book from which I could see the snow gently falling outside the window. I got a lot of reading down. Considering I had barely started the novel I need to write my ethics paper on as of yesterday, I am now over halfway done. I plan to finish it tomorrow by lunchtime. Anyways, Mum made us supper (a rare occurence... we usually both cook for ourselves), and then we went outside to shovel... which turned into a small snowball fight, which I won, of course. ;) I also made a snow angel and got snow down my pantalons and my underpantalons. It was worth it, though. My snow angel was pretty, and I can see it from my window. Since then, I've been sitting on my window seat reading, and I just made myself some hot chocolate. It's been a lovely day. There is something magical about the first snow fall.

I'm a Believer!

SOLD! I bought a "Tide To Go" pen while I was doing some Christmas shopping at Wal Mart the other day, and I had the opportunity to use it for the first time last night. When I got home from the C4C Christmas Party (which was great, by the way! I got to be a snow crab... and Matt's a really great Bingo caller... haha Kelley! ;) I discovered that I had a small chocolate stain on the hem of my white t-shirt. "Ah ha!" I thought, "The perfect time to test out the ol' TTG pen!" So, I whipped it out, coloured on the stain, and it disappeared before my very eyes! It was amazing. I'm sold. If you need stain remover, get Tide To Go. It really works. Yay!

So, shopping was fun last night. "We're going SHOPPING!! AHHHH!!!" heehee Right-o. We learned that teal/turquoise was a very popular shade at Garage last year, which, as you may notice, is the tone of the t-shirts that all the sales people are wearing. We also learned that Matt Rice is really great at holding lots of shopping bags and that Gilberto likes one very particular section of Mark's Work Wearhouse. haha It was a fun time. And I am officially done my Christmas shopping! Let the wrapping begin! And the making stuff part...

Break Ups

There seems to be a lot of break ups going on right now. I wonder why... For those of you who don't know, I am a recent single, and I can think of about 4 other couples I know who are also recently broken up. I wonder why there's so many. You wouldn't think that just before Christmas would be a time for a lot of break ups, but it seems to be. Of course, I highly doubt that it's related to the time of year at all. Some of the break ups have been coming for awhile, I think, but others... I don't know... Hum...

I guess all we can do is trust that God knows what He is doing and has a special someone picked out just for me (or you). Still... it's strange how relationships falling apart seems to be so rampant right now.
